One night I went down to Safeway and bought a bag of potatoes and a bottle of India ink. Later that same night the familiar atmosphere of frankincense and cedar parted way for the rank fragrance of Idaho potato as chunks of potato whirled around my studio like birds caught in the propeller of an airplane.
Alfred Hitchcock visited the studio that night from his motel room in Bodega Bay and shared his secrets of invisibility with me. It was a "good evening" indeed and these pieces commemorate the occasion.
